The Falcons' 2011 Julio Jones trade left them without first- and second-round picks. The deal might have earned high marks for last year's draft, but that sacrifice removed Atlanta from lofty draft-grade consideration in 2012.

The Falcons still capitalized on the majority of their picks. At nearly 6-foot-4 and over 220 pounds with sub-4.6 speed, Iloka has a shot to be a "tight end stopper" Atlanta could use to slow Jimmy Graham in the NFC South. Johnson is a one-trick pony pass rusher, but excels in the role. Acho is a heady, versatile linebacker who can help right away on nickel downs. Paulson could be the Falcons' No. 2 tight end of the future. Zusevics will likely spend his first season on injured reserve.

The Falcons would have had to do something really special to earn anything higher than a C for this group. Because they did draft well after sitting out the first two rounds, Atlanta gets a C+.
Grade: C+

3.2285George Iloka, S
from Boise St.
Falcons need help all over their defense, this is a case of BPA. Not loving the TE options, willing to wait on the position.
3.2689Cam Johnson, DE
from Virginia
Easy pick. Adds a needed pass rusher to the fold. Good value here.
4.26121Emmanuel Acho, ILB
from Texas
Curtis Lofton gone, enter Manny Acho. Solid value fills a void in RD 4.
5.22149David Paulson, TE
from Oregon
A TE to groom while Tony G. winds down his career. Our Pac12 buddies over at the Sickness know what kind of hands this kid possesses. Good value here.
7.22212Markus Zusevics, OT
from Iowa
BPA. From the OL factory of Ferentz, at this point, Zusevics can develop into a solid reserve OL.
