San Francisco 49ers

On the clock: Baltimore Ravens, Pick: 7.32

General Manager: @TysonNFL

1.3131Jesse Williams, DT
from Alabama
Jesse Williams is exactly the type of player we are looking for in San Francisco. We wanted someone who has a strong anchor to keep offensive linemen off of our All-Pro linebackers. We feel that Williams lack of experience won't be a problem once Vic Fangio and the defensive coaching staff gets a hold of him.
2.2454Margus Hunt, DE
from Southern Methodist
Justin Smith isn't getting any younger and we wanted to bolster our depth on the defensive line. Margus Hunt is a phenomenal athlete that we predict will take over for the "Cowboy" when he rides into the sunset.
3.1274Phillip Thomas, S
from Fresno State
Dashon Goldson's run as our free safety is coming to an end. His contractual demands are too high and we feel Phillip Thomas can step in right away and make an immediate impact. He has great straight-line speed, he's very athletic and we like the way he closes on the ball.
3.3193Marquise Goodwin, WR
from Texas
Marquise Goodwin gives the 49ers wide receivers something they don't have right now, world-class speed. With Ted Ginn Jr. on his way out, Goodwin can step in right away as our new returner. We also love his playmaking ability when he has the ball in his hands as a receiver.
4.31125Dion Sims, TE
from Michigan State
With Delanie Walker on his way out, Dion Sims from Michigan State gives us the best opportunity to add another tight end receiving threat. We love his size, speed and ability to make defenders miss.
5.24150Dwayne Gratz, CB
from Connecticut
Dwayne Gratz gives the secondary a much needed boost at corner. Carlos Rogers is nearing the end of his career and the depth at CB was a glaring weakness at times. Gratz runs well and uses his hands well to jam at the LOS. He is also a very good defender against the run.
5.31157Reid Fragel, OT
from Ohio State
As an organization we were happy to see that Fragel added 11 pounds of muscle from the end of the season until the combine. His 40-yard dash time wasn't that fastest, but the 33 reps on the bench impressed and his 30 inch vertical. We feel as if this is a very good value pick here in the 5th round.
6.31189Josh Boyd, DT
from Mississippi State
With the uncertainty of Isaac Sopoaga and Ricky Jean Francois, it only made sense to add Josh Boyd here. We believe Boyd has the ability to play both NT and DE in our 3-4 defense. We are surprised that he is still here at the end of the 6th, which makes this selection a home run type of pick for us.
7.21211Dustin Hopkins, K
from Florida State
Bye bye David Akers! Hopkins was arguably the best kicker in the nation last year from an accuracy and power stand point.
7.31221Braxston Cave, C
from Notre Dame
Goodwin started to show his age last season at times, so we felt we would take a shot with the kid we like a lot from Notre Dame.
