| This is how you work a draft board. Houston moves down from the No. 26 spot and still get my No. 1 rated wide receiver, Alshon Jeffery. They follow that up with an athletic tight end, Orson Charles, in the same round. Talk about adding targets. Nate Potter is a risk in the third round due to injuries, but if he’s healthy he is an ideal fit for the zone blocking scheme. Jarius Wright is one of my favorite players in the entire draft, and in the fifth round he’s a steal. | Grade: A |
| Pick | Overall | Choice | Notes | |
| 2.09 | 41 | Alshon Jeffery, WR from South Carolina | Big time talent. Needs to be challenged and Andre Johnson will do that! If he doesn't work outside can slide to TE with Owen Daniels | |
| 2.26 | 58 | Orson Charles, TE from Georgia | BPA. Losing TE Dressen and NFL passing league | |
| 3.08 | 72 | Nate Potter, OT from Boise St. | Winston replacement..Potter can keep his 73 jersey. | |
| 4.26 | 121 | Matt Reynolds, OT from B.Y.U. | AUTOPICKED | |
| 5.09 | 136 | Jarius Wright, WR from Arkansas | Speed..enough said! | |
| 5.26 | 153 | Quentin Saulsberry, C from Mississippi St. | Potential C. Myers replacement - solid athlete who does some things well on the move and in zone scheme. | |
| 6.26 | 184 | Marcus Forston, DT from Miami (FL) | According to Wes Bunting, he's an explosive kid who can bend, has a good first step, natural power and is sudden enough to shed blocks in both the run and pass game. | |
| 7.26 | 216 | Frank Alexander, DE from Oklahoma | Has good size and strength and hails from OU very good program and that produces good NFL Defenders. |
