| I’m known as not being a Dre Kirkpatrick fan, but as a press corner in Denver he could be a fit opposite Champ Bailey. It’s still risky. Kendall Reyes fills a need at defensive tackle, Nick Foles has nice developmental potential behind Peyton Manning and Devon Wylie may become Manning’s favorite slot receiver/return man. The Kirkpatrick selection, over better corners, will keep the grade low. | Grade: B- |
| Pick | Overall | Choice | Notes | |
| 1.25 | 25 | Dre Kirkpatrick, CB from Alabama | Champ is gettin' a bit long in the tooth. . . and Goodman plain sucks. Kirkpatrick will have a few years to learn under Champ, and could potentially be an early 2012 starter. | |
| 2.25 | 57 | Kendall Reyes, DT from Connecticut | Very excited to see Reyes fall this far. There is speculation that he will end up a 1st round pick on draft day. Here we are arguably filling our #1 need in round 2. Reyes has a nice coupling of size and athletic ability. I expect him to have an impactful rookie season playing in either a 3/4 or a 4/3 system because of his versatility and playmaking ability. | |
| 3.25 | 88 | LaMichael James, RB from Oregon | Dynamic and Electric. LaMichael James will bring a spark to an otherwise lackluster Denver offense. The Broncos need a few play makers added, and James fits that bill. Though he is much smaller than I'd like, his game-breaking speed and quickness impresses me. . . Not to mention his great hands. His open field ability is impressive, and he reminds me a bit of Darren Sproles. Though undersized, I think his speed and versatility will make him a great complimentary back to a pounder like McGahee, Tolbert, Jacobs, etc. | |
| 4.25 | 120 | Nick Foles, QB from Arizona | So lets face it, Tebow isn't Elways guy. . . . We all know they Broncos will be taking a QB at some point in the draft, and we feel fortunate that Foles is still here at 4.25. At 6'5 he has the height required, and he definitely has the arm strength. He needs a situation where he can sit and learn for a few years. He needs lots of practice reading the field, and making decisions. As our 5th rated QB (Ahead of Cousins and Osweiler), Foles has the skills to eventually blossom into a pro quarterback. | |
| 5.02 | 129 | Devon Wylie, WR from Fresno St. | Feel like there is alot of value here, as Wylie is our #7 overall WR. Shorter than we'd like, Wylie does exhibits quickness and good burts off the line. He is a natural catcher, and because of his quickness and suddeness will be a perfect fit to replace Eddie Royal in the slot. | |
| 5.25 | 152 | Jerry Franklin, ILB from Arkansas | If Nate Irvin isn't ready to rock, then we need depth here. Pick up a quality athlete that can play in the middle, here. | |
| 7.25 | 215 | Akiem Hicks, DT from Regina | DLine Depth; Currently have none. This big boy has what it takes to develop into a quality interior lineman. Give him some reps! |

| 5.02 | NFL: from Rams for WR Lloyd |
| St. Louis → Denver (PD). St. Louis traded a conditional sixth-round selection to Denver in exchange for wide receiver Brandon Lloyd; the selection was later upgraded to a fifth-rounder after a condition was met in which Lloyd made a minimum of 30 receptions with St. Louis. |
