PickOverallChoiceNotes
1.077Mike Evans, WR
from Texas A&M
Missed out on Sammy Watkins due to issues out of our control. Go with our No. 2 WR in the draft to team up with Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin. Yielded a 2nd and 5th this year as well as our first in 2014 and 2015 while receiving Tampa's 7th this year. High price to pay, but nothing we could do about it. Needed one of our two options.
2.0234Pierre Desir, CB
from Lindenwood
3.3094Cyril Richardson, OG
from Baylor
This was a rather easy pick when the trade offers we received were let's say, "less than stellar." Richardson will be the 49ers extra OL in jumbo packages and could end up replacing Mike Iupati, if he departs in FA.
3.36100Bishop Sankey, RB
from Washington
No brainer for the 49ers here. LaMichael James is on the way out, Frank Gore isn't getting younger. Lattimore coming off ACL. Get the No. 1 RB in the class with value at end of the third.
4.29129Ahmad Dixon, SS
from Baylor
Future starting SS next to Eric Reid, creating one of the hardest-hitting S tandems in the NFL. Mix in Desir and the 49ers secondary just got bigger/more physical. The way it needs to be in the NFC West. Value+need.
7.06221Tajh Boyd, QB
from Clemson
7.28243Jeremy Gallon, WR
from Michigan
This one is for Bri. Not really, but a solid need-based pick with solid value towards the back end of Round 7.
7.30245Bennett Jackson, CB
from Notre Dame
